Inspired by the centennial of the 19th Amendment and women voting, POWER OF HER is a uniquely Cincinnati celebration of the contributions of women’s voices to shaping local arts. Proceeds will support continued advancement and innovation by women artists and supporters.

POWER OF HER is a collaboration of organizations across the Greater Cincinnati region, united to activate and amplify women’s voices in the arts. Led by ArtsWave, the initiative salutes the women who came before us, and honors female leadership and woman-centric works of all kinds. At its core, POWER OF HER underscores creativity as a vehicle for inclusion and equality by celebrating the female voice — and the many ways it champions a more diverse and vibrant world.

IMAGINEERS • IMPRESARIOS • INVENTORS: Cincinnati’s Arts and the POWER OF HER” tells the inspiring stories of the powerful influence of 200 women. Our artists, arts patrons and philanthropists, executive leaders, volunteers, collectors, and advocates – both past and present – have helped define Cincinnati by being here, working here, and sharing their talent with us and the world. The women who founded Cincinnati’s vibrant museums, theaters, musical and dance performing arts, schools, and civic organizations designed and nurtured arts organizations that were built to last. Sixteen of these durable organizations are featured in the book, along with founders and current leaders, including the Art Academy of Cincinnati founded in 1854, and the Cincinnati Opera and Junior League of Cincinnati celebrating 100th anniversaries in 2020.
